I need a lock screw for the lower tang of an older A5 I recently acquired. Numrich has them listed for $8.75 a pop (part #475610) plus shipping (or $11.40 on Ebay, shipping included), whereas MGW quotes $6.25 plus shipping. Sarco doesn't list these as such, but does have an FN49 guard screw stop screw that looks similar for $1.75 plus shipping (#FN49048). Might anyone here know whether this Sarco FN 49 stop screw is the same part as the Numrich/MGW A5 lock screw? TIA for responses! :)

No clue, but I have gotten a bag of parts on eBay that included lock screws. Old lock screws look better on the gun if the finish is worn.

More research identifies Jack First Gun Parts with two types of A5 lock screws, an "old style" (#16-98) at $3 a throw

https://jack-first-gun-parts.myshopify.com/products/browning-a5-lock-screw-old-style-16-98

and another with a larger head and same stock number as the MGW item (B1111280) at $7 a shot

Which would be correct for a fifties A5 (round knob grip, cross bolt safety)? TIA!

All Auto-5 lock screws are the same, any differences are in the finish. If there were old and new styles, the MGW site would tell you. Also, they sell them in packages of 5 for $25.

Thanks for your responses. I just need one lock screw, and so paying seven to ten dollars for it isn't momentous, but is kind of a PITA. I'd rather not drop $35 to $40 for a pack of five. In any event, I found that Sarco is selling an unfinished A5 stock for a reasonable price and so ordered one along with a FN49 guard screw stop screw to piggy back on the shipping fee, just to see whether it fits, so will give this $1.75 part a try before giving Jack First a tootle.
