…...and he is a she...….i.e., Jeanine.

Congratulations on a really nice Diana by (IMO) one of the best engravers from the early 60's. I would love to have an example of her work one day.

I stumbled across her name not too long ago and I can’t for the life of me remember where. All I recall was she was Dutch and her family moved to Belgium after the war. Her father was a member of the Dutch resistance. I’ll try to find that reference.

More importantly , congratulations ! See if you can do something about that electronic illiteracy , we’d love to see some photos :s

I am working on pictures if I can get the weather to cooperate. All I have taken indoors are really bad. In the meantime, I have saved the original ad from HALLOWELL and his pics are great! If you can post them before I figure this stuff out, pm me an email address and I'll send them to you.

I have some pictures but still can't get the hang of posting. Anybody willing to accept them via email and post? Sorry to be such an idiot, but technology isn't my thing.

Dang, that combination of engraving with that stock made even my plastic covered keyboard to flood! Lovely beyond words! Thanks for getting those to us to view.

Also posted for Chip-3 . . . a fantastic Diana at its new home!

Chip's story behind the gun . . .

I was in an almost 10 year search for a Gr1 28ga superposed RKLT. A friend
sent me the attached link and I just about wet my pants, and I bought it
after many discussions with Mr. Hallowell, who was a dream to work with. The
1963 engraving is signed Spiegel, but is actually a woman named Jeanine Vanderspiegel.
There is a post on page 25 on shotgun world
discussion referring to Browning engraving with the proper first and last
name. Her family apparently were Dutch immigrants who moved to Belgium after
the war. It wasn't just the engraving that got my eye, but the whole
package. The wood is about the best I've seen on a Super, then add the
original case and paperwork sent me over the edge. About six months later I
found my 28ga.

The 28 is nothing special other than it is a 28. Grade1 engraving, 261/2" bbls, choked sk & sk. Serial is low 3 digits dating to 1960, second year of production. Stock is RKLT, nothing special but better than expected for a Gr1. This and the Diana are my Grouse guns. Some have cringed when they see the Diana in the woods, but I shoot that the best of my 3 supers. Only three? I have sold off everything I don't shoot, and at 70yrs these 3 Supers are all I need and want. A collector,no, but a lover of quality and the John Browning heritage. Have had others over the years, these are keepers and will be passed on. There are a few others in the safe, run of the mill stuff.

Chip-3,
Beautiful Browning Superposed shotgun by an excellent engraver! Makes you see why the Diana grade sold well during the 1960s.
In addition, this firearm was manufactured during some of the best years for quality at Browning.

Thanks to all who like the 20ga Diana. The responses reaffirm my purchase. I thought it was kind of special when I saw it. Now to find out more about the gifted lady who did the engraving.

I have decided to buy a B25 and I found one B25 B2 that Im interested in. Its overpriced but the condition seems to be really mint and its not so many B25 on the market in Sweden. its signed by L Acampo. Does anyone have som information or thoughts about that engraver?

Louis Acampo is listed in Schwing's Superposed book as an engraver at FN/Browning. No dates of service are listed. And that's as deep (or shallow) as my limited knowledge goes.
However, I received an email from a reliable source that he engraved guns from the late 50's thru the 70's.

Nice gun!

Wow, what a gun Dave-K! I have two dream guns, a LTRK Midas and a Continental express in any caliber, but especially 30.06
Just amazing. Curious how the 30.06 recoil is handled with that straight English grip...not much to brace yourself with, such as a POW or fuller grip.

Thanks Scotty,
Its one of the best of a good number of Brownings I have bought and sold. This one is ,and I would bet never be fired. I have another grade one set that is unfired that I tempted to shoot.Really cool guns, very sleek.
I'm not big on recoil but don't find the 06 that bad, magnum's like 300 Win are another story and no fun for me to shoot.

Very Nice ! The Continental sets have always fascinated me and that configuration would suit anything on this continent. I’m curious as to the engraver if you would care to share his name. Thanks for letting us have a look. John

Here are some additional photo's of my 1972 Long Tang Pigeon 26" M & IC posted back on May 29, 2019. The closeups were taken with a macro lens on a Nikon.
