I just purchased a 20ga Cynergy to use for skeet and thought about getting adapters for .410. Does anyone have any experience with these? I see some that are about 3 or 4 inches long do they just drop in and are the maker specific?

I've had a couple of Cynergys for several years now, in 12 and 20 ga, both with 28" barrels. They are field models with the "controversial-looking" Inflex pad. Between the two I've shot 10-12,000 rounds.

I really like both guns, and haven't shot a 12 ga of any style that I would prefer to own, though I haven't had the pleasure of shooting any truly high end 12 ga guns. Both are very gentle shooters. I think you'll love your 28ga.

The mechanicals are vey robust, and totally different from any other gun. The only issue I'm aware of has been loose pins holding the ejectors to the ejector rods, on older guns I believe. Browning fixes this if a problem.

If you mean those shortlane insert tubes, I would think twice. Those 3-4 inch long tubes are one shot only. After you shoot, you have to remove the tubes from the barrel and then remove the spent shell. I’ve found that the spent shell will stick to the tube, and you really have to give it a push w a stick to remove the shell casing.

Briley Sidekicks in 410 are longer (and the newest version is longer than the older one) than the old 28 gauge Sidekicks, and I have a set of the 28 guage. They do have extractors that lift the shell when the ejectors come up. The only issue I have noted was that on the Ruger Red Label stainless 12 gauge I had it was necessary to push them flush after loading to keep the Sidekick extractor from hitting the breech face of the action. You do not remove them to remove the spent shell, just pull it out like you would have done on early guns with just extractors and not ejectors. Keeps you from chasing empties. Briley does offer the 410 Sidekicks for 20 gauge guns per an answer to my email inquiry some time back. I don't think they make a 28 gauge insert for a 20 gauge though. They are pretty expensive now. I bought mine a long time ago on closeout pricing at a Cabelas near me, and they also had the 410 Sidekicks, but I passed on those. I just couldn't wrap my head around them working well in a 12 gauge gun. The 28's took a South Texas Whitewing dove limit in the 12 gauge gun the only time I ever used them for hunting. NO recoil in a nearly 8 lb gun. They did get very dirty on the outside, but all the new longer ones may not be subject to that much fouling on the outside of them.

I forgot to mention that in less than 5 minutes you can convert a Cynergy to extractors instead of ejectors. Just be sure to put the one little part you remove in a safe place that you won't forget and label them. They go in a specific way for top and bottom barrels.
