Hello, I’m a big browning fan but I don’t have many of the older auto 5. I’m looking for some books to purchase to have that would give info on the auto 5’s. Both Belgium and japan versions. Does anyone have any books they recommend that would shed some light on all models of the auto 5’s?

If you know the gauge you want, you hardly need a book. What is it you are looking for, exactly?

Just dates certain models were made, differences in 16 and sweet 16, stocks, round knob vs flat, just overall history. Serializations, engravings, etc.

This book, along with Sauerfan’s posts on this site, will make you a Browning expert.

The "BOOK", Sauerfan, Goad, Rudolph 31, Jeff Mull's old posts are all a wealth of information. An A5 is a thing of beauty and a joy forever. I was a late arrival to the A5, but have really enjoyed collecting and studying this piece of usable shotgun history. The above listed sources have been invaluable as concerns history, value, and function in my education of John Moses Brownings creation. Enjoy, Ken.
