I have a brand new Browning Citori CXT on the way.

I decided to buy new this time due to not finding much very interesting to me

in the way of used XT's or older Special Traps.

Lots of over used and over priced inventory out there.

My one and only concern about this gun is the unusual recoil pads being used on this

and other CX models.

What do those of you that own these types of Citori's think of those pads?

Should I think about a replacement pad right out of the box?

It doesn't answer your question directly, but I have a Cynergy CX and I have no issues with the recoil pad for 1 ounce and 1-1/8 target loads.

i think the pad on my cxs is one of the best pads out there. fit against the butt is maybe less than perfect but i like the cush and texture.

Have a CX 12ga and CXS 20ga bought in last year. Love the pad. Reasonably soft and doesn't hook up on clothes as easily as some others. I'm not clear on what you thought you weren't going to like about it or what makes it so unusual?

I just am not sure about it. It looks different from a conventional pad.
I was asking about it on T.S.com and got a 50%+ and 50%- on them.
Anyway the gun is here and I pick it up tomorrow.
I guess I will give it a chance and find out for myself.

On my CX I tried replacing the stock pad with a Limbsaver and a Kickease. The limbsaver was for a slightly shorter length of pull, the kickease was the same LOP. I wound up with the stock pad because they all felt the same but the stock pad got caught on clothing less than the other two.

Well, after several failed attempts due to range closure I finally

got to try out the CXT on Friday.

I shot 3 rounds of Trap and 1 round of Skeet which I used a low gun mount.

I think the stock pad is going to stay on for now.
