I have a steel receiver sn fnC25xxx and an aluminum one sn A11xxx.
The steel is marked as an import. The barrel markings are Fabrique National etc.; Browning patents.
The aluminum barrel is marked Browning Arms ST Louis MO.
The steel has the traits of later production; Square forearm, wide breech lug.
The aluminum has the traits of earlier production.

Are the FN guns serial numbers the same sequence as the non FN guns.

If so that puts the steel gun at the very end of steel production 1958-1959.

By the way, while measuring a barrel today, with a dual unit tape, I noticed that they are very precisely metric.
approx 27 1/2 = exactly 70 cm
approx 29 1/2 = exactly 75 cm
I am guessing the 26 barrel is 65 CM

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

You are correct. A Twelvette with 26 inch barrel actually measures 65 cm, or approx 25 9/16. Twentyweight barrels were listed as 26 1/2 and actually measured 67 cm or 26 3/8 inch.

Thanks Tmber 444
I couldn't figure why the odd measurement.
The tape clued me in.
