Wondering about a CXS for my wife. She currently is shooting an old Ithaca/SKB 500 that has lots of miles. Worried about parts availability when it needs repairs. Wondering about recoil on the CXS?? The CXS would certainly have to be cut down to a shorter LOP to fit her. Hers is currently 13.75 and the CXS is 14.75 but not a big deal to get that done. She shoots Sporting Clays only. Any advice is welcome.

The only real issues when cutting down a stock that much is that it would most likely preclude having an OEM adjustable comb and might affect balance. If she needed the adjustable comb, it would have to be a shortened version installed after purchase.

I support the Citori choice for sure, but I wonder if you have looked at the Fabarm Elos Allsport (the original, not the newer XL) which is a junior model with a short stock. Nice gun from a well regarded maker and has adjustable comb built in. Also comes with two interchangeable ribs for trap, skeet or sporting clays use.

I like my 20 gauge CXS

You might look at the CX, though. I believe it has a shorter LOP.
