I am having ejection issues with my 1952 A5.

It's a standard 2 3/4" gun, has all new springs, rings (set correctly) clean, lubed correctly.....

Randomly, it will hang shells in the ejection port. Different shell brands, different sequence (sometimes it is 2nd shot, sometimes 3rd). I will try to get a picture of the failure over the weekend but until then, anyone have an idea what could be causing the issue? At first I thought it was shell length, but since it happens on different brands of ammo of varying lengths (within the 2 3/4" standard), I have moved on from that idea (maybe prematurely).

Thanks for any advice. Also, this was happening before the new parts install.

The left extractor has a tendency to break, and it’s hard to see because it’s on the far side of the ejection port.

Sometimes the chamber on my A-5 becomes sticky with residue. I polish chamber with a bronze bore brush covered with 0000 steel wool and soaked with Hoppes #9 and spun with an electric drill.

Interesting. Why would a sticky chamber (which this gun does not have) cause a shell to hang in the ejection port?

Sticky may not be the correct description. My A5 gets a thin plastic residue after being fired a lot. Empties partially eject and get caught in ejection port. A broken left extractor produces the same symptoms.
I polish the chambers of all my A5's with a bore brush wrapped in 0000 steel wool soaked with Hoppes # 9 at the beginning of hunting season.
Good luck!

In my experience with semi autos, there isn't one out there that does not operate better with a smooth and polished chamber. The use of chrome plating in the chamber area has helped minimize that problem a great deal.

I have even helped the ejection on a few pumps by polishing the chambers as smooth as possible.
