Looking at the Citori and wondering if people have a preference, I have heard the bluing wears out especially if you carry the gun by the receiver but wonder if that really matters other than cosmetics?

Really, it’s what look you prefer. The bluing will wear but that’s a sign of use, a testimony to the time spent afield and memories made. The silver receiver won’t gain that worn-in look but maybe you’d prefer that. I have one of each and prefer the blued but not by much.

Thanks, a friend got the silver and while I like it I do like the blued, as you said the wear will show its use and enjoyment over the years whereas the silver will always look roughly the same.

I wonder if the blued one can be polished to look silver?

I have a couple
Of blued citori’s and would like the silver look on one.

Blue will show wear. Especially on the breach face and receiver inside and out. Nitride just wears better.

The silver finish wears off from carrying too. It just isn't as visible.

Personally, I like the look of a blued receiver. that being said my favorite Citoris (525s) to shoot all have the silver finish.

If you remove the bluing the bare steel will need to be coated/nitrided or the action will rust.

Of the two models, I much prefer the white (silver).

The nitride finish (white) is also more expensive. And for good reason. If it's not abused it will hold up much longer than blue.

I like them both, have a White Lightning 16ga and a blue CXS 12ga, and agree that the blue will wear more if it's carried a lot at the receiver.

I like the contrast of the silver against blued barrels.
