 Post subject: Browning Auto 5 barrel sticking

Cleaned my ww2 era auto 5 and it cycled correctly. Disassembled the barrel to look for date code and now the barrel will not slide into the chamber pushes in about 1/2 inch. I disassembled again and tried it without the spring to rule that out and same problem. The ejection works. I searched but could not up with an answer.
