Are you sure that he is getting those prices or is it just what he is asking? Asking and getting are two very different animals

See for yourself. The $155 case of Herter’s is gone, but here’s THREE boxes of Federals that started at 39.99 and is up to $200.

That’s nuts. I would never do that to a fellow shooter. I don’t need the money that badly. I would have trouble with my conscious

Those bidding are doing it to themselves. But why? It’s a paltry sum for a money laundering operation. But I can’t think of another reason.

Around here, I haven't seen 12 or 20 g shotgun shells on the shelves for 3 months. Well- I see Bismouth, but no target stuff. Sometimes I hear about a load that arrived 'yesterday' and sold out within 4 hours- even with a 2 box limit set by gun shop to try to be fair.

I agree- ammo prices are INSANE right now. I've seen a 500 rd brick of .22lr general HV ammo going for over $100, when it should bring arond $25-30 at most.

I saw .45acp range [not SD or high end target- just plinking] ammo going for around $75 a box of 50- instead of $25-30 [and I remember buying around $15-17 a box].

Ammo is just insane.

In CA, there are new ammo laws. If it weren't for that, I might be tempted to sell some to pay off an auto repair. However, I wouldn't sleep well, and I worry I might not be able to replace it easily later.

Just- crazy.

As to the Auto-5, I am lucky.

I picked up mine about 3 - 3.5 years ago at a LGS for around $350.

1948/49 FN made 12g w/ 29.5" barrel and in decent shape. I had the buttpad replaced, as the one on it was rotting- that is what got me the lower price.

Now though, the same condition seems to go for around $800 or more.

Just crazy.

I've won a Light Twelve round knob with a 28" vent rib on gunbroker. The gun appears to be really clean. I would say 95% or better from the pictures. The seller didn't indicate the choke. I'll be in it for $925 shipped. How'd I do?

I’m used to seeing guns like that go for around $800, but prices have been rising. Also, if these shotguns were still being produced they’d go for over $2000, so you’re getting a lot of bang for the buck.

Hope it has a useful choke.

Here are links to a couple of pictures. I'm thinking this is a mid-50s gun (square ejection port and crossbolt safety). Am I correct? No serial number provided.

From those two pics, it is a NICE Auto-5!

I just sold the one shown in the link below. It was without the box also.

Wow, beautiful gun. Crazy price! What did you expect it to go for?

Between $2,200-$2,500 was what I expected.

I just checked and the one I posted at the first of the thread went for $4,259. I guess Sweet Sixteens are hot right now.

I’m glad I started collecting when I did. I wonder how long these prices will last.
