On the A-5, all guns take the same extractor EXCEPT the Mag Twenty. The bolt is also modified for this extractor though the bolt is essentially the same.

I can see the differences in the extractor, and though I have a mag 20, assembled, I’d rather not disassemble a never molested gun to find out how the bolt is different.

Why is the extractor on this gun different than all others? Why did browning feel the need to make this 1 part unique? The Magnum Tweleve, Light Tweleve, and standard Weight guns all use the same bolt and extractor.

The reason I ask is because I have a Magnum Twenty, with all Mag 20 specific parts but missing the bolt. I’m hoping to convert a standard bolt to work.

There's a 20ga mag breech bolt on ebay right now. $69 but it's stripped. Maybe you can see the differences.

I wonder if the extra power of the magnum rounds makes them stick in the chamber. Since there is no difference in dimensions besides length, if it were my gun I'd assemble it with a standard bolt/extractor and see what happens. Bring a range rod with you when you shoot it.

Thanks! I now see the difference. The ejector isn’t split and the bolt is modified to allow the ejector to pass through. No left sided extractor so the ejector must press in more medially. I never noticed that before, but granted, I bought my Mag 20 3 years ago, most expensive browning A-5 I own and I’ve never shot it!
