With the issues they've had since Cerberus, maybe this will "wipe the slate clean" and someone competent will be in charge.
I wonder if the "lifetime warranty" that has been touted as the solution to crappy quality control will remain in effect with the new owners. My guess is it won't.
The designs are too good to give up, so surely someone will keep the company itself going. The question is, will the run the company well. As someone said above, I can't imagine anything being worse than what Cerberus did.
The Remington Ammo plant is in my home state of Arkansas. Remington ammo certainly isn't what it used to be, but I know folks who work there and hate the uncertainty they must be facing. Hopefully the new owners will bring it back to its former glory. What's wrong with Remington ammunition? I don't shoot a great deal of it, but have no complaints about the STS, Gun Club and Game Load shotgun shells or the .30-30 and .35 Remington rifle cartridges I've shot during the last few years. Ditto. I have shot, and continue to shoot, Remington shells and have had absolutely no issues whatsoever.

The Navajo nation having $300m to invest in this is surprising, considering the conditions many of their tribe members are living in. If this deal doesn’t work out in their favor, I hope they come up with a better one that does benefit them.

The Remington "Target" .22 ammo I had was junk. Lots of misfires.

Ditto. I have shot, and continue to shoot, Remington shells and have had absolutely no issues whatsoever. I had the luxury of growing up shooting the old man's ammo. Remington std vel 22 from the 70's was consistent, accurate, and utterly reliable. Just off the box, regular old 22 ammo. It was great back then. Every box of Remington 22 ammo I've bought in the last 15 years has been JUNK. Misfires, inconsistent charges. Bang BANG, plup, BANG, pop Bang. The centerfire pistol and rifle ammo gives the imported junk from Tula and Sellier and Belliot a run for the money when it comes to shooting dirty. At first I thought it was just the UMC stuff, but the green box has proven to be little better. Big inconsistencies in performance and accuracy from time to time too. The brass is great stuff to reload, but I don't buy factory loaded Remington ammo anymore. I will say I haven't had any issues with the shotgun shells, and given that this site is a shotgun site, I can see where my comment might be seen as "off". I rarely buy Remington shotgun shells simply because Winchester and Federal are more readily available in my area, but the Remington shells I have bought haven't given me any problems. I have better performance out of 30+ year old surplus ammo from third world countries than I do with Remington centerfire rifle/pistol ammo or rimfire ammo. Not sure if they're running on worn out equipment or what, but the quality that used to be there is not anymore.

Can`t comment on Remington rifle or handgun ammunition as I`ve never owned either, the only rifles and pistols I`ve ever shot to any extent having belonged to the government.

I used to depend on the old green-and-yellow box of Remington .22LR to be reliable and accurate. When that stopped being the case and their .22 ammo actually became as bad or worse than the cheap bulk brands/types, I started wondering how Remington could let that happen... didn't they care about their products and their reputation? Maybe they have improved the .22 ammo; I don't know because I stopped buying it. But the point is, the fact that they knowingly let the quality of what was probably one of their top-selling products go from "industry standard" to "avoid if possible" had me casting doubt on the quality of anything with their brand on it. Maybe I'm the only one who felt this way, or maybe a large percentage of consumers felt this way; I don't know. I'm just throwing it out there...

After that and then what they did to marlin and their QC, I stopped buying their products.

TimberHog wrote: The Rifle and 9mm ammo is good stuff ! I bought a bunch of the 9mm JHP in the green boxes. That is the DIRTIEST 9mm I have ever shot. Worse than the imported steel cased crap. I have a ton of it too. Bought it all at once. Maybe I should flip it now that we are at peak 9mm. LOL Winchester USA ammo (white box) used to be great range ammo too. It's slipped substantially too IMHO. The green and yellow box rifle ammo used to be excellent quality ammo. The last few boxes (Core Lokt) I've bought have been very inconsistent, so I buy mostly Federal ammo now or load my own. I do like Remington brass. The local prison used Mini 14's and would shoot all day at the local range, not picking up their brass. They shot Remington green box, and I probably picked up 15K hulls at the range that the left behind.

So....you guys don`t like the pistol and some of the rifle ammo. Fair enough. How about the guns and other products? Anything redeemable there or do we just hope Remington fades away into oblivion? Just askin`!

Remington is maybe the last man standing in the NY gun industry. They have a long and proud heritage. My comments were only to show how they may have let consumer confidence slip... just one of the many straws that may have broken the camel's back. I'm hoping this is just another bankruptcy "sky is falling" kind of thing but, considering their debt, it might really be the end this time. I don't know squat about business so I'm only guessing, NOT hoping, that the end might be near.

Well, hate to say it, but if Remington ( or some form of Remington ) is to not just thrive but just survive, if they are the last man standing then there needs to be no man standing in the NY gun industry. Anti-gun, taxes beyond belief, anti-manufacturing, etc. would make it difficult for a firearms company in the peak of health, much less a company that`s in the straights in which Remington finds itself. Time to get the hell out of Dodge!
