Will one of the older 1100 fixed full choke barrels fit on a 1100 Competition wiithout any function issues?

The only function issue I've encountered when swapping 1100 barrels goes like this, the 3" magnum barrels only have a single gas port, barrels chambered for 2 3/4 shells have two. If you try firing light target loads through a magnum barrel the action my not get enough gas to cycle, aside from that you should be fine.

The 3" Magnum models were designed to function with 2-3/4" and 3" Magnum loads.

Not sure he’s asking about a magnum barrel?

Nope, I am talking about the old rem 1100 fixed full choke barrels for 2 3/4 “ shells. I understand that the new probore barrel on the 1100 competition is apparently heavier than the old barrels. My objective is to put one of the older barrels on the gun.

To the best of MY knowledge it should work, but to put your mind at ease try contacting Remington, they have always been responsive anytime I've contacted them for information.

Yes. I didn't like how front heavy the 1100 Competition Synthetic's ProBore barrel was, so I swapped it out for a 28" light target contour RemChoke barrel. Huge improvement.

The competition 1100 will have a wider extractor that a real old 1100 barrel slot will not accommodate, you can fix that with a swiss file if you are somewhat skilled.

I have the older 26" fixed choke VR skeet barrel and it fits fine on mine. I prefer the shorter barrel for skeet. I use the 30" for trap and SC.
