I lucked into a spectacular 17 on a business trip a few years back
Just found a very nice 20 gauge 31 to keep it company

This is the 17 already in the fold:

Here is the 31 on order:

These are two of the sleekest and slickest model pumps ever made. I look around for a good example but never find any in 20 gauge. Well done!

The 17's are all in 20 gauge but hard to find in good condition.

There are a fair number of 31's around in 12 gauge, but as you indicated it is hard to find a good 31 in 20 gauge. That is why I jumped when I saw the above 31 in 20.

The below picture, side by side with a Winchester Model 21 shows this 17 is quite the looker:

To my eye, the Ithaca 37 has always looked like a cheap, slab-sided, knock-off of the much nicer looking Remington Model 17. Especially the late Model 17A "Standard" Grades that got checkered wood as Bushmaster1313s gun.

As most here know, I've always had an aversion to bottom dumper pump guns inherited from my Father's disdain for them, but a while back when a 28-inch solid rib improved cylinder barrel Model 17A "Standard" Grade could be out the door of my local pawn shop for $200, I couldn't resist.

By serial number mine must be from just before they got the checkered wood.
