To my eye, the Ithaca 37 has always looked like a cheap, slab-sided, knock-off of the much nicer looking Remington Model 17. Especially the late Model 17A "Standard" Grades that got checkered wood as Bushmaster1313s gun.
As most here know, I've always had an aversion to bottom dumper pump guns inherited from my Father's disdain for them, but a while back when a 28-inch solid rib improved cylinder barrel Model 17A "Standard" Grade could be out the door of my local pawn shop for $200, I couldn't resist.

By serial number mine must be from just before they got the checkered wood.
