A NEW HOPE: Remington 870 Shotguns Begin Production March 1

The new owners of Remington, the Roundhill Group, have just obtained their Federal Firearms License (FFL) for the iconic Ilion manufacturing plant where the Remington 870 shotguns are produced. The new owners plan on opening the plant for maintenance next week and will begin production on March 1st. Additional details can be found at the sources below.

We will see if the Turk empire strikes back and succeeds in pushing Remington into being nothing more than an importer.

Predict that whatever they produce (if anything) regardless of quality it will be deemed inferior to the old company product. It will be like the old pre and post ‘64 Winchesters

I hope they hit it out of the park on the first swing. If they stumble on quality it will be a hard row to hoe.

When has anyone ever whined about a gun getting better? When has it happened? Winchester cheapened the Model 70. They couldn’t cheapen the Model 12 so they replaced it with the 1200, which wasn’t even close. Remington couldn’t compete using their 31, so they made the Model 48 into a pump and called it the 870. Nobody ever manufactured a gun and then worked on figuring out how to make it cost MORE to produce.

I'd really like to see the guns with nice walnut and glossy bluing like the original Model 870's.

Toward the end they actually did cheapen the model 12 by going to investment cast receivers and large parts. It was too little too late

At one point the statement was made that they would not send guns to market until such time as the actual production line guys said that they were good enough to go. If they follow through on that, the quality should be there.

But the last yrs of Remington the quality did get better. Look at the last of the Marlins produced to proves that. I bought one of te last V3s in my area and the quality is pretty good I would buy one again.

Just a matter of time before Randy jumps in to squash any even slightly positive or hopeful thoughts and comments. About the only thing he hasn`t called the folks at Roundhill ( RemArms ) is "criminals ". This thread`s title is like chumming for sharks!
