I am going to use a set of 11-87 wood on an 1100. The forend locking system is different. The choices are install an 1100 forend steel insert with the detent ball and use an 1100 cap or possibly install an 1187 mag retainer with the serrated end and use an 11-87 cap. Has anyone done the deed and had success . Is there another alternative, possibly installing a detent ball alone in the end of the 11-87 forend? Thanks

I have the 1100 steel insert tubes new old stock if you need one. And yes, I have installed them: very simple. [email protected]

A rubber O ring will secure the fore end just fine. You are probably going to have to shim that fore end.
