I have a 686 WOS that I purchased in Aug. 2009. I have around 6,000 rounds through it and it's a fantastic, reliable double gun. My question is I've never had the stock off the gun or any other detailed cleaning of the internals or firing mechanism since I've owned it. I do, however, clean the barrels and action about twice a month. I use Tetra Gun grease on the action as well as the two holes where the locking pins enter the monoblock. How often should I remove the stock to clean the internals?

Speaking just for myself, when the weather's starting to warm up and I know "clay"season is getting close for me  And most of the time If no problems again at the end of the season.May not need to this often(i'm not a high volume shooter YET) but it's one less thing for me to worry about because I know the trigger assembly is good to go.YMMV

hopper810,

Thanks for the tip!! I shoot year round, you know us Yankees love the snow!! I think I'll take the stock off and clean the internals up good and proper for the upcoming fall/winter league. Keep Texas free, when I retire I'm moving there!!

Once a year.

At about 30,000 shells the little springs start to wear out. Rich Cole's is the present place to send it. Though I know a few other gunsmiths I trust (Mark Gadbow , for example).
