I saw this Cabelas exclusive Beretta 686 Onyx Pro Trap 12 Gauge, I think I want this one. Does anyone have one of these and do you like it. I know it's a trap gun, but I intend on using it for heads up skeet.

I've been saving the a SP1 Sporting and now that I saw these I think I want one instead. Sporting instead of Trap though, I'm also very interested in what people think of them.

I did a little research and the original onyx pro came out with some real cheesy laminate over the wood but this looks to be the real wood new version and the price is a bit higher than the original ones.

After I inspect it when I get there, I might be purchasing it very soon. I'll keep you updated.

After giving the gun a look over this morning, I think I fell in love-lol. It has up graded wood, oil satin finish, optima bore with 4 or 5 extended optima choke tubes. I bought the pro trap with a nice tall rib, Monte Carlo stock and beaver tail for end. I shouldered the gun as I closed my eyes and then opened them to the beads perfectly stacked and dead center. I am passing on my Citori for my 13 year old to shoot scholastic clays since he has out grown all the spacers to his 26" RL 3901 Beretta. I'll report on how it shoots Wednesday afternoon.

After a little trouble with a choke tube last Wed., I got my chokes that had been ordered for it and shot again Sunday. 22 24 21 24 currently I have a 21.5 average. I am pleased and it's a keeper!

It's been awhile since I've been on here. I had the gun fitted by country gentlemen and shot it now all winter with it fitted and I'm back on after completely re-learning how to mount and shoot the gun. I haven't run 25 with it since the fitting, but I've shot 23 and 24's with it. I had the triggers set for tubes and shoot 410 with it. After the trigger work, I need to remember to stay in the gun or it won't cycle, that was an operator error not the gun!! I still love the gun well over a year later.

I bought one as a present for my adult son. 32" barrels. He shoots well with it.

Why would you get this choice over a Silver Pigeon III? I'm not criticizing but asking as to why?

Trap version, sp3 doesn't come with trap shootings features unless you get a joel etchen trap gun for another $1800. Upgraded walnut stock, extended chokes, black receiver ( if you don't like engraving scroll work ). The onyx pro fits nicely into my budget and what I'm looking for, Brownings just don't fit me.

I just really like the look of the gun, it's not your daddy's shotgun! Black receiver instead if blued or silver and the satin finished walnut gives it a little different look. I'll probably never justify owning a K gun, so this is my B gun.

mine has a right hand palm swell, but I believe they make this gun in a left hand version. You might have to call a Cabelas on that one.
