I am considering moving forward with the purchase of a 694 here soon. I was going to cut some corners and pick a up a 686 32" but for less than twice the money I think the 694 is more than twice the gun and should keep me content longer than the 686 likely would.

Or even a gold version like the DT11 gold. Tired of blue....

Do it. finally pulled the trigger, but it seems to only rain when I don’t have work. I like the balance and weight of it. I have the comb about where my 692 was and just need to get to the range to verify and then try a few rounds.

Do you typically need more drop than what the standard stock offers? I found a good deal on a new one but the wood isn't very pretty, not sure I should place much importance on that for a $3600 clays guns though?!

I’ve not measured actual drop. I’m using two less Bfast spacers than my 692 setup, but I think my 692 was cut pretty low. I could get the comb way down into the stock, 694 requires just one spacer and its flush like a non cut comb.
I get the adjustable combs for left and right more so than drop. I’ve gone up 20 pounds this year and dropped 10 of those this last 4 weeks.

One of the best reasons for an adjustable comb.

Well I could wait for an adjustable comb model to come back in stock or I could nab the standard and should I need it I can have it done aftermarket.

Another thing is mid beads are hit and miss, if you’re looking for it to have it. Some have them, some don’t without any SKU difference.

Yea they are out of stock on all 694’s at the moment unfortunately. I can wait, just need something else to shoot in the interim. That 686 Onyx Sporting 32” in the classifieds is local and intriguing, might pick it up to hold me over?!

The jury is still out on whether the 694 is really an improvement over the 680 series guns, and even if it can be determined to have some “improved” features, in no way can it be considered to be twice the gun. The 680 series on the other hand has been put through the ringer and has held up. It is relatively expensive to manufacture and has a lot of hand fitting, especially to the forearm. This is why Beretta is slowly moving toward other models. The 694 does appear to be a leap up from it’s predecessors in the 690 series, however, especially in the forearm assembly.

The 686 Cole Special is a nice gun too but not sure it’s worth $3600?!

Exactly, the wood set and blued receiver make those guns. If they came with extended chokes it would be a very nice package, but I’m not sure I can justify $4K for it (after adding a set of extended chokes) when I can get the newer 694 for less or an adjustable comb 694 for the same money both of which come with extended chokes.

if there was a black reciever option with a gold line and the gold 694 then yeah I could see guys jumping all over that.
I liked the looks of the 692 Black, but I didn't like the carbon rib and everything else, otherwise get the receiver cerakoted.
I will admit that is some good looking wood. Baby DT11
