Hi

I have been always feeling that I am the only one who bought a beretta 693????

Why is this model so unpopular among shooters ?

I went into a popular, respected gun dealer intent on buying a 693. I asked "what am I getting for the extra money vs. the new/improved 686"? The answer was nothing, in fact the 686 was arguably better/stronger. So I saved about $1,000 and got the 686. Wood isn't as pretty, but I'm pretty happy with it.

Hardly.

The receiver is perhaps 2mm wider and a little heavier but the action is the same. As for the barrels the forcing cone is longer but that's about it. Don't drink the "Steelium" Kool Aid. The barrels are still made from Excelsior HSA Steel, same as every other factory gun, and they've been using their cold hammer forging process (aka Steelium) on numerous guns for years.

Hmmm. Different? Marginally perhaps but not enough to notice and certainly not "totally different guns, totally different barrels over the 686" per your post. If you can tell the difference in either patterns or recoil between 5" forcing cones and 10", you're a cleverer man than I am.

In reality the 69X series - including the 694 - are but fractional increments from the 68X series, more I suspect to keep the marketing folks happy than anything much else.
