I am looking at these two guns for my next sporting clays purchase. I can get the 692 Black for $400 less than the 694. I like the look of the black receiver better than the brushed finish on the 694, but I am concerned about the durability of the carbon fiber rib and the rubber finish on the top lever. I also prefer the looks of the more traditional receiver and stock on the 692 versus the more modern and sporty feel of the 694. Is the 694 better? The $400 difference isn't a factor, I am more interested in whether or not in the long run if the 694 with its improvements will be the better gun?! It appears that while there are a number of slight improvements and changes on the 694 there isn't anything ground breaking on it when compared to the 692.

With the cost difference not being a factor, my decision would come down to which gun fit and felt better. Quality and beauty of the wood would also factor into the decision for me personally.

Exactly. However the stock geometry is a little different and that to me that would matter more than the $400.

I am terminal at 686. But...I would get the 694 between those two choices.

692 black is a very durable gun, the rib is not a concern and looks cool, Get whichever points the best...I am not a fan of the silver receiver either

From what I was told, late March we can expect some 694s to be shipped out again. I’d like to feel one, but only a few are available and none near me.

That’s where I got the info. Beretta’s warehouse is empty and once it’s replenished they’ll begin sending them out.

I got a great deal on a 692, had to add adjustable comb but all in still less than base 694. I don’t like a big palm swell. It did need some trigger work they were about 6.75 lbs factory

So the 694 has a big palm swell? Luckily I don't need the adjustable comb with the 692, not sure about the 694. The problem is finding a new 692 Black is becoming much more difficult.

Maybe “big” is overstatement but I have smaller hands and don’t like much palm swell. The 692 is a little more like a field stock grip

the palm swell on a 692 is smaller then the 694, but everyone's hands are different, I'm not much of a palm swell guy myself.

despite what people might say the 692 is a very capable gun, and a great gun.

Having shot both I liked the 694 the best. Wish the 694 was available in a black receiver.
