Would like to hear opinions on what finish I should get
On a custom stock I am having made for a DT11. Torn between oil or Matt poly finish. It is a grade 4 stock light colored, stock maker is saying poly is good for gun in South where humidity is high 8 months of the year. Thanks for the opinions.

Rich Cole recommended an epoxy finish made by Thunderbird Archery for a Zoli stock he is making for my wife, in part for durability since we live in south Florida. If you do a search he has a video on Facebook telling more about it. Best of luck whatever you decide.

The only finish I will ever have on a shotgun is a drying oil like BLO or similar in matte. The best looking, the most penetrating, the easiest to touch up, least likely to chip off. Not necessarily the most durable, but the easiest to make right again. Humidity is not a problem although a good dunking or ferocious rainstorm probably is.

What oil finish does your stock guy have to offer? All of the lay on finishes like Poly, lacquer and the epoxy will show a white mark when the stock gets dented and are a bear to repair.

On a recommendation from someone here :) I used this on my DT-11 https://www.rustoleum.com/en/product-ca ... danish-oil

It sealed the wood and I don't really care for a "shiny" finish and after a few light coats good to go and just because I topped it off with Rennisance Wax on the wood and metal and water just beads up and runs right off.
