Sounds like the my19 is just model year 2019 updates. Steelium bbls, more cnc machining, etc. Excelsior steel was used in the earlier 686's.

I prefer the older, 2019 style to the newer style that looks more "laser etched" than roll-engraved. I think at least one of the YouTube gun channels did a video on the 2020 model when it was released... I think I saw the one by TGS maybe? It outlines the differences. EDIT TO AD: I am mistaken. The video I was thinking of contrasts the 2019 SPI with previous versions; not the 2020 version.

Read the features and compare them. This page (bottom of pagel itemizes the MY19. https://www.beretta.com/en-us/silver-pigeon-1-my19/Other than Steelium vs. Excelsior bbl it sounds largly cosmetic - and I doubt the grade of steel makes a wit of difference.

I have the MY. 19 Silver Pigeon Sporting. The big deal is that it comes with the new barrels with the Optima HP chokes and the very long tapered forcing cones that the higher grade Berettas use. No solid side ribs.
The gun has some kind of laser cut checkering. Feels good. Looks poor when inspected closely. My gun replaced a older MC SP1 Sporting and the difference in feel is huge plus for me.

With all due respect John, Steelium is not a grade of steel it's a nonsense word created by the marketing dept to impress buyers. All factory made Beretta O/Us, including the DTs, use Excelsior HSA steel. It's actually stamped on the barrels.

Ah, I thought it was a different steel. I know the higher grades including the ASE used Bohler Antinit steel at one time and that the DT moved to the excelsior steel as a cost savings measure. Figured steelium was yet another cost saving measure.
