Hi, I am new to guns and recently bought a Beretta A300 Outlander Semi-Auto Shotgun With Black Synthetic Stock. I start to wonder today on if I should get a sight or a scope for it. I plan to use the a300 for clay, birds (pheasants, pigeons) and duck hunting. Can you please on if I should buy a sigh/scope and which one you would recommend? My budget is less than $300, if I should buy one to improve my shooting accuracy. Thanks, Peter

Scopes and flying targets are really not compatible. So keep that in mind

Gotcha, it doesn't sound like I should install one for flying targets then. Do you think this red dot is good for my target range practice shooting? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0020 ... 0DER&psc=1Curly N wrote: Scopes and flying targets are really not compatible. So keep that in mind

Red Dot sights are really rare on shotguns for clay shooting. There are a few that use them. One trapshooter on trapshooters.com uses one on a regular basis.
If you want to use one, you are pretty much a pioneer, because hardly anyone has done it or is doing. That being the case you can't get much advice. Someday they may be the standard answer, but we can't say that right now, and maybe never, but no one really knows.

The only place I would see for a red dot on a shotgun, would to be to shoot slugs. They may help with your accuracy in shooting slugs.

I had two friends that used red dot sights on shotguns for turkey hunting and they wanted to see how they would work on the skeet field. They hit 0 targets out of 25 while using the red dot scopes. Red dots and flying targets are not meant to be mixed.
