Yes I just got one, Mine has 30" barrels and feels very nice ballance, they are put together very well mine is still tight to open but only had a few shells through it just to pattern it.
The patterns I got at 40yds were 60/40 top barrel and 50/50 bottom with 7/8 th shells. the wood is pretty plane but good and strong, It is really soft shooting being a 20 gauge and nice and light to carry, I hope to get a few grouse with it this coming year, hope this helps. Steve!

I purchased the new 20ga 686 field with 30" barrels since it's the same gun minus the wider rib, mid bead and vents between the barrels. None of these options made me want to spend $300 more on the shotgun. I really like the fit and feel of this shotgun. It points great and has the same feel as my 686 sporting 12 gauge. I shot five stand with it last weekend and shot 20 out of 25 the first round and 22 the second round. I think this will be a great shotgun for sub gauge sporting clay's.

Lettman...any idea what the accurate weight of your 30 inch field model 20 ga. is? Is the safety automatic?

My favorite shooting buddy just got one to replace his Remington 1100 and Rem 3200. He wonders why he waited so long. I loan out a 12 gauge, 30" barrel 686 with Optima HP to people that are on the fence regarding entry level shotgun choice. So far, 3 people have seen the light and come over to Beretta.

i have one, it is a sporting. build quality is not quite up to that of other 686's i've owned in the past but it's not something most would notice. my opinion on the various barrel designs Beretta sells is they just don't matter.

It's a nice field gun at around 6.6 lbs. i wouldn't make any effort to get this version vs an older non optima gun.

Grabagun had the field model that I got for $1635 so I picked one up since it was a good deal. My shotgun has good fit and feel so I can’t complain. The 686 line to me are great shotguns for the money without all the bells and whistles most people will never benefit from.
