The tough part about getting an intact spring out is getting the bottom leg of the spring over the lip on the housing. Another way to do it, other than trying to get a blade under it, is to remove the trigger guard. the guard is threaded into the housing - you can use those threads and a cap screw (forget the threading - its metric of course) to push up the bottom leg of the spring enough to clear the lip.
