What is the difference between the standard Xcel sport in blue versus the black?

Looks Better
Black Chokes.
Finish is factory black, seems to hold up better than ceracote and dips.

About $400 CAN more for the Black around BC, Canada....that said I bought the Black as the blue receiver was a non-starter (might have been on one barely used one that was $1300 cheaper than a new Black...unfortunately the seller decided to keep it after advertising it) when I was looking around last fall.

The Black Xcel also comes with the heavier black colored magazine cap weight vs the lighter blue one on the blue receiver (they are interchangeable, and an even heavierl weight is an option from Beretta and aftermarket sources). Bet the extra weight of the black cap about offsets the lighter weight of the carbon fiber rib on the Black...ending up that both the Xcel Black and Blue handle identically in stock form. But your wallet is definitely lighter with the Black.

My Excel is a ceracoted black that Coles did before the factory version. Mine is close to 3 years old and over 20K rounds and the coating has held up extremely well. The back edge of the opening for loading and spend shell ejection has a small amount of coating wear on the back edges.

When I bought the 12 gauge, I had no interest in the blue finish so went the route I did. This past summer, I bought a 20 gauge and just went with the blue.
