I’m looking to buy a sp3 28 ga sporting model. Haven’t decided on 30” or 32”. I’m in SWF and there are currently none to look at.

Joel Etchen has some very nice combo sets on his web page, I’m thinking it may be worth it to go ahead and buy a combo set. He has 20/28 and 28/410 sets. I went down to Naples and visited the Coles store. They had some field models in stock but no sporting models.

The salesman at Coles said that they would be getting some upgraded Coles Specials in 20/28 ga only. I’m thinking he said June or July.

Does anyone own a Coles special combo set? Is it pretty much the same as the Etchen sporting special.

Iirc they don’t use sporting style wood on those. Tighter grip radius, palm swell, thicker comb....

I have no experience with Cole's but I can tell you that I recently purchased a signature SP3 20 gauge "sporting" from Etchen and am verrrrrry happy with it.

I'm in Tampa even though Coles is in Naples... bought my 694 from Etchen as they had a lefty model in stock and I didnt have to pay Tax which was a big plus.

I have a Cole’s special 12 ga sporting and a 20/28 Cole’s special combo . I’m happy with both .I’ve also dealt with Etchens on a new barrel and forend . Both companies dealt fairly with me . I will say that during the winter season down here , Cole’s gets very busy and has longer wait times .

Etchen 687 SP III 28/410 Combo. Phenomenal wood with excellent fit and finish. FWIW it is supposedly a RH gun and I shoot lefty....it has absolutely zero cast so works just fine for me. Rebecca is who I dealt with over a few months and she was extremely satisfactory.
