I am interested in picking up a A400 28 gauge with the 28 inch barrel. I can’t find one locally so will have to order it but since I can’t handle one I thought I would check with the Beretta crowd here. Pros and cons? I have been using a Yildiz 28 ga O/U and had a Franchi 48 AL 28 ga but sold it. I plan to use it for five, quail, waterfowl and Turkey. Any suggestions on chokes for use with TSS?

I got to shoot one a friend has. VERY light up front and very whippy for me. I took my Briley mag cap weights from my A400 12 and that made it very smooth handling. Like a Remington 1100, it does eject empties quite a ways, so if you reload be aware of that. Otherwise for a lightweight 28 semi for dove or grins, it is a nice gun

I have one. Reliable with no jams. I have it weighted out with a heavy factory cap and a bolt on weight in the back (about 1lb in total). Low recoil, better than my Benelli legacy (which I sold). 28ga ammo is expensive, so not shot for a lot of clays. The only con is that I shoot a 12ga at most everything, so it doesn’t get much use and sits in the safe.

I have been stock piling 28 ga ammo for a while now. For some reason my local Walmart gets in 28 ga ammo every couple of weeks at pre nutty prices so I buy it when it comes in. I have lots of #7 1/2s and the last batches they got in were #6s so getting some decent ammo. I have been hand loading TSS for Turkey.

Which Walmart in Tally is still getting ammo? Everyone I have been to has yanked out the guns and ammo completely.

The guns are gone and the only ammo they seem to get in is the 28 gauge

I loved my 28ga A400 Xplor w/28" barrel. Never gave me a problem and convinced me to go ahead and buy my Beretta 686 in 28ga. Now I save my hulls a lot easier with extractors and reload. Sweet A400 in my opinion. IF pictures on this forum weren't such a pain I would be glad to show you mine.

I had one but sold it. Great gun, and as stated it throws empties far compared to others. I did add a Briley weighted cap to improve the swing. I used mine for skeet, upland (ruffed grouse) and some very close over the decoys duck hunting. Never had an issue.
Forgot to mention, that I never tried TSS but used Kent Bismuth with great results when I did my part!
