Looking for a Monte Carlo stock for the 500. These were originally on the 500 AHT Trap models produced in the ‘70s. Anyone else have one of these?

This is the only Mossberg trap stock that I found. Numerous people try to find them. Welcome to ShotgunWorld, sir.

I purchased that very stock...high comb trap style stock from Havlin. It was the last one he had. Great folks to do business with. The monte carlo style are rare as Hens teeth. BUT... this outfit will actually reproduce one for you if you want one badly enough. I believe they have a pattern for it.

I spent a fair chunk of time before I found your stock. Mossberg did not make many of these guns, because the sales were weak. But I especially remembered a particular post, so I will pass it on...

On another forum (the one that trap shooters love to hate), dead on 4 wrote:
I've had two Mossberg Olympic high ribs and both had monte carlo stocks. In fact, the stock was not high enough for me, so I had the top of the comb sawed off and a piece of wood spliced in to raise the comb. Fun guns to shoot, they will smoke a target as well as any other. Surfer

Now my memory reminds me of this:

I think that all of the Mossberg 500 Trap guns came with walnut Monte Carlo stocks. The drop at comb measures about 1-3/4", and the drop at heel measures about 2-1/8".

Two nice Hi-Rib Trap models produced from 1978 - 1986 are the 500AHT (fixed full choke) and the 500 AHTD (three extended Accu-chokes F, IM, and M). They are 12 gauge guns with either a 28 inch or a 30 inch barrel, an upgraded very crisp trigger assembly, and a high profile Simmons Olympian free floating rib. The rib is about 0.75" above the barrel and is marked on the left side with Simmons Gun Specialties, Inc., Olathe, Kansas. There is an ivory colored bead at the muzzle, and a small brass bead about mid rib.

The 500 AHTD is valued at Perfect $305 Excellent $255 Very Good $215 and the 500 AHT is valued at Perfect $275 Excellent $240 Very Good $200 in the Gun Digest Book of Modern Gun Values (18th edition, 11 Apr 2016) by Philip Peterson and Andrew Johnson. IMO these values are at least $200 low because they were very limited production models.
