I was shooting trap tonight and I find I cannot select "U" .
Safety on (or off) I cannot get the over /under switch to move.
(also tried w/ action open and closed)
Any suggestions before I look up a gunsmith?

thanks in advance
- jeff

First take the barrels off of the receiver...

Take off the recoil pad, then using a long screwdriver, remove the screw and take off the stock.

With the stock off, move the saftey switch on and off you will see it moving back and forth. Now try and move the barrel sellector from side to side, it is a mechanical switch so it is binding or hanging up on something....

Also since you have the gun apart, spray everything down and give it a good cleaning.

Good luck and let us know what you find... If all else fails and can stand to loose the gun for 6 - 8 weeks Mossberg has been pretty good about fixing these, even out of warranty.

Thanks Smitty
I cleaned, oiled and added some gun grease, is somewhat better now.
Issue seems to be the piece of tin under the selector - Looks like I need to knock a pin or two out for a closer look or adjustment - but I'm not sure if I have tools for that.
Oh darn, a reason to go to my favorite hardware store.
I'll let you know when I get this ship-shape.

OK - I decided to tweek said piece of tin w/a pair of needle nose pliers, works like a charm again.
