I purchased a mossberg 500 and wanted a 18.5" security barrel to go with it. I posted a add looking for one and got some replies. One guy sent me some photos of his 18.5" security " maverick 88" barrel but it had no maverick or mossberg ID on it. All that was scribed on the barrel was a address and a shell size capacity . Address : "1001 Induatrial Blvd, Eagle pass , Texas, USA, 78852" And on the other side of the barrel was a description for shell sizes. "Chambered for 2 3/4" and 3" shells, 12ga, 18.5in -cylinder bore Does anybody have a maverick 88 or have had one and can clarify if this is normal or if it should say MAVERICK somewhere on the barrel? It seemed a bit odd to have a address but not the marketing brands name ? Maybe a knockoff ? Or is this real below are the photos! https://ibb.co/GQKf4Zmhttps://ibb.co/4YmjPxHhttps://ibb.co/6X4BJgDhttps://ibb.co/xSsQZf1*update* everybody I've spoken too ( 8 guys) with maverick combos or security all have a PO box 586 then eagle pass Texas and zip code 78853? Nobody has the same address 1001 industrial that I got nor the same zip 78852?

I will only speculate...so take this with a grain of salt. If a business was using a PO BOX, I presume the zip code would be that of the Post Office itself, not the zip code of the P O Box Owner. Then, if the P O Box owner decided that using a P O Box was no longer desirable, he would then use the actual business address's zipcode. If you want to look further into that theory, try to find out the physical address of the town's Post Office. My bet is that the town P O Box is 78853. Just trying to help explain the possible differences. regards, p.s. Isn't there a Mossberg forum on Reddit or Facebook peopled only by Mossberg owners, i.e. a concentration of People who care specifically about your gun? You might get more feedback from that site. p.p.s. https://www.facebook.com/MossbergCorpp.p.p.s. https://www.reddit.com/r/mossberg/

No offense, but you can't get much lower on the totem pole of gun brands -- not bad guns, but definitely budget. That's sort of like somebody faking Hi-Point parts, isn't it?

Is the mossberg 500 and the maverick 88 the same quality barrel like literally the same one or is the 500 series a step up .

I think everything but the trigger group is interchangeable but some parts for the maverick are made outside the USA, which could be the barrel. They don't really put out their barrel specs so I think you are on a fruitless search if you are looking to find the differences.

Well one gun is $200 cheaper here in canada than the other. I assumed the overall quality is better on the 500. Maybe a better steel grade or a chrome barrel instead of polished steel. Maybe it's a higher grade steel barrel I dont know that's why I'm getting at

So, let's assume the Maverick barrel is "cheaper" in some way. Given that, what are you concerned about . . . specifically . . . ?????
Barrel failure in some way? Rupture? Pattern quality? Sight alignment? Velocity? Premature rust or finish loss? What is it, exactly, that you fear might happen if the Maverick barrel was inferior in some way?

All of the above. If I simply pay $100 to get a mossberg barrel and eliminate the risk I'd rather do that . But if there the same no point in me wasting money when I got one on trade
