Bought my first Mossberg in 1966, it was a model 185 (20 ga) bolt action with c-lect choke. Upgraded to a 20 ga model 500 in 1968. I have 3 barrels for it- 18 " hs, 24" smooth bore slug barrel and a 28" mod. I have bought and sold many guns over the years but the 500 is still with me. I have put thousands of rounds through it and never had a problem with it.

I see used Mossy 500's on sale in some gun stores and pawn shops when I go in to browse and they can be had for 200 bucks give or take. The 500 is there cheapest pump so I dont know what is expensive is and your budget. But look for used one's that have been taken care of either in gun stores on second hand racks or pawn shops or look for a Remi 870. Hope you find what your looking for. Happy Shooting, Pasquale

Its a shame scrumbag there cheap here in the U.S.A. If I am going to pay that sought of cash I would choose the Benelli. Nothing wrong with the Mossberg mind you, I have owned one for over 30 years and she still works fine. Don't understand why the cost is so much. Good luck in finding an alternative. Happy Shooting, Pasquale

Mossberg 500s from the 80s are my thing. 100% reliable and always ready. Just picked up a 1991 model for $150 out the door. I have a tough time leaving a used Mossberg 500 behind at my LGS. The American AK-affordable, bullet proof and always reliable.
