Don't you mean "bore"? I don't think a male pig wants you to shoot anything out of it. :D To answer your question, though, yes, you can shoot slugs through a cylinder bore barrel. In fact, it's a pretty good choice.

Unless there's a type of slug that I'm not aware of, I don't think any are rifled. They get the spiral grooves from being pushed through a rifled barrel. So, if your barrel has a plain bore, none of the slugs you shoot will be rifled.

Some slugs are rifled, that's what you shoot through a smooth bore shotgun. See photo here.

Most rifled slug manufacturers recommend improved cylinder choke, but cylinder will work fine. I would avoid tight chokes, they will work, but put more stress on barrels.

You can shoot slugs out of a smooth bore but the accuracy range is quite limited. I found shooting slugs out of my 20ga model 500 accuracy is limited to about 50 yds.

Rifled slugs fly nicely out of a cylinder bore. I prefer IMP CYL in my 1985 500A, but use cylinder bore on occasion and find good accuracy out to 50 yards. 100 yards you're looping them in.

If you find the right load, a cylinder bore bore can deliver decent accuracy with slugs if you have good sights.

Each gun will have different preferences, requiring you to try several brands and types. In general stay away from slug loads designed for rifled barrels.

I have had excellent success with 12 ga. Fiocchi Exacta Aero Slugs (7/8 oz) in an M500 with 18.5" cylinder barrel. From the bench three shot groups at 50 yards were <3", and at 100 yards ~ 6" - both when the wind wasn't blowing. This gun does have peep sights, and special targets were used to help with aiming consistency.

Brenneke slugs also grouped pretty well for me, and Remington Buckhammers did respectably, but neither were as good as the Fiocchi's. All other brands did poorly for me, but may work great in another gun.
