The top extractor broke on my pre War 4 digit 37 skeet shooting the other day. Found a piece of it and the spring cap. Lost the spring. Thought it would be an easy fix. Ordered a NOS extractor and spring from Numrich. Extractor looks different and spring is too big to fit in the hole. What to do and where to do it?

Diamond's gun shop, Ithaca, NY. Les Hovencamp (owner) was a long time repairman for Ithaca Gun. Les is the man!

One of the previous owners engraved their name and city on the receiver. I have tried finding any of his relatives to no avail. I talked to Diamond Gun Shop and with even the low end of the estimate starting to cut into what this gun is worth, I am considering parting it out. Wood is gorgeous and the barrel is very nice also. 509-205-0357 if you need any parts. Let's talk.

12 ga. Fitting required? Pre War the same as the rest? Already have new parts that don't fit and don't want to end up with more.

If your gun's got a four-digit SN, it's either a first- or second-year gun. I wouldn't be so quick to part it out. Even with the receiver desecrated, it's still a rare and sought-after find.

Let me know if you cannot find a replacement bolt and extractor. I'm sure I've got one I could spare from my stash of parts; it would be yours for whatever I've got into it, plus shipping. PM me if I can help.

If that does not work (and no reason why it shouldn't), I may be a buyer of your gun before you part it out. PM me if it is for sale.

I have had receivers laser welded up and reblued. In my case, I was repairing an Ithaca that was badly rusted.

It will cost a bit, but the results are worth it in my opinion.

First I would like to thanks the several members that helped me out with their valuable information. The bolt swap worked. Couple of things to note. The replacement bolt I got needed a firing pin spring. So disassembled both, but the firing pin on the replacement bolt had a much longer shoulder than the one in my gun. So I had to use both my pin and spring in the replacement bolt. Still not sure if I will remain the caretaker, but I did shoot a couple of 24's at trap and a 23 at skeet with it today. Here is what she looks like and how I got it. Check out the price on the bottle of Hoppes.

Beautiful pre-war 37T. Good to hear that you got it working. Sounds like it fits you well.

Nice gun!! If that’s a “S” then it has “T” wood.

Does the barrel say 37S? it may say 37T and can still have a skeet choked barrel. The wood is definitely trap grade style.

Very interesting. Neat gun for sure. Too bad it can’t tell it’s story.
