An interesting gun for sure. I am not an Ithaca engraving and or checkering expert but from my eye the work appears to be somewhat heavy handed. I have never come across a factory Ithaca with the leaf type checkering on the stock. Ithaca usually did finer checkering and stocks with a bit more figure. In addition the floral patterns in the metal seem to be a bit to coarse, especially when compared to the factory game scene engraving. The safety should not have the whole side painted red. In short I do not believe the work to be factory but perhaps done for a GI stationed over seas by local artists or by a talented hobbyist. In short I would not pay grade III money for this particular example.

I was definitely wrong about this gun. It surely is an aftermarket gun.

he has it on GunBroker for $19,500. Was listed at $13,500 expired and came back at $19,500. I believe the gentleman has visited before under a different name.

That is true but I purchased it from the seller and am the new owner of the gun. Jst looking to find out more. I jst want to clarify I am who I say I am and the Ad is still on gun broker it is not accurate. The gun was sold and is not for sale. Jst simply trying to find out some more information. My true intent at the start of this was to see if Walt Snyder himself could shed any light on this peticular gun.

I'm sure others with more experience than I will chime in soon. I've been known to be wrong before,
