Hello,

I have a 20g Model 37 from 1972. Somehow I lost the washers for the stock bolt in the past 3 months.

In looking at Ithaca's website [or gunpartcorp], I see sizes small, medium and large.

Is there any easy way to tell which is what I need? Or should I just bite the bullet and get all 3- and do 'trial/error'?

Thanks

Just go to the hardware and buy what you need for a very small fraction of what you would pay Ithaca. You can stack 2 if they are thin and don't forget the star type lock washer. And if you don't already know the female end of a 3/8" socket extension fits the square head bolt head.

Yes on what Mike said. Common items at any hardware store. I also believe there was no difference in bolt sizes between the gauges or the washers and lock washers. Just don’t over tighten.

....and if you want to keep everything Ithaca period correct contact Les Hovencamp at Diamond Gunsmithing in Ithaca NY. Les has lots of parts and I am sure will be more than reasonable. I’m sure he’ll appreciate it.

A standard 12 point socket also works for the square head bolt. IIRC it is a 3/8" (but could be 7/16") I don't remember at this moment.

Thanks to all of you, I got the parts for my local bolt shop. $1 total.
