I found out yesterday that one of my 28ga. guns had a wood magazine plug, marked "Upper Sandusky OH". The other ones have black plastic plugs. Has anyone else found a wood plug in a early Upper Sandusky gun? I should point out that #219 was wood and #123 &125 were both plastic. All three have 2008 serial numbers.

Our 20 gauges are plastic.

My 28 has a wooden plug. Unmarked. Basically a small dowel.
I can't remember when they started making the 28's.

Wood dowel in mine. Actually in the case. I never installed it.

What is the diameter and length of the dowel? I have a 28 and don't have a plug (bought it used). I know I can guess and make one, but was wondering what the original was.

The 28 gauge Ithaca Model 37 was introduced in 2009.Some early receivers were made up in 2008.

FWIW, mine, which is three years old, has a wooden one. While not an expert, my 28 has the best trigger of any shotgun I've ever owned.
