I have a 1924 Flues. what was the orginal finish. I want to shine it up. It has some dull spots. Shriker

Oil based. Not sure what may be on the market to come close to the original.

I refurbed a 20 ga flues a number of years ago and I made up my own mixture of linseed oil, tung oil, and oil based coloring to match the finish. I had to lightly sand the finish back to get it all even and then started applying the mixture. It wasn't a complete redo. I was leaving some patina on the wood.

Hard to just "shine" it up. You can try a good furniture wax first. Try it our on a small area first.

Dan Cote at the Double Gun Journal also has a nice gun stock conditioning oil that comes in a small bottle. You can rub that on and buff it out. I use it to maintain my oil finished guns.
