What is the finish on the ULT receiver and how tough is it?

.

The anodized finish's condition will depend on how it's been handled.

Any receiver finish can be damaged by rough handling - bluing gets scratches and/or fades; anodizing wears through around the sharp edges, or can flake off.

The finish on my M-37UL looks like if just came from the factory, after 45 years of hunting with it.

However, I haven't used it for things like literally busting brush aside or as a crutch when wading a stream.

Sounds tough enough for my hunts. I am keeping the ULT 20 imp cylinder for partridge and a pre war 20 full choke 37 for turkey.

I have had/have a lot of ULT guns. Never had an issue with any of them. 20 ga. 16 ga. 12 ga. Doesn't matter.

Ult 20 IC for ruff grouse (damn Mainers and improper use of Partridge!) is a good combo but I prefer my 16 ga. prewars or pre 1955 37's.

16's

20's meh..

Sid Bell grip caps of course. Including the rare 20 ga. UL deerslayer.

Put around 10 slugs though it and that was enough. Went down the road to someone back in Chemung County. Ouch. Think I just flinched thinking about it and it was many years ago.

Only kept one of the 20 ga. ULT guns. In IC. But ruff grouse prefer to be shot with purple shells. Just saying...
