Just wanted to leave a update.

I recieved a replacement gas seal, I also opened the gas ports, reassembled and was able to shoot a few rounds this past Sunday. The gun is now working wonderfully. It cycles gun club light 8's, it seems with ease. I also purchased a shell deflector, with it installed it spits the hulls about 3 to 4 feet down in front of the next station. The wire I had bent up wasn't quite right. The hulls went right on by. Going to continue adjusting the wire, I'm sure I can get it figured out. I was also able to shoot a few shots at the patterning board. Wow, the full choke is tight. And, boy does it shoot flat. Doesn't look to be any more than 50/50, POI. I do wish it would shoot a little higher. I'm now contemplating having the comb cut so I could adjust some. I'm also thinking maybe I should shoot it more as it is. May try some build up mole skin first. I did get a chance to shoot it tonight two rounds of 16's. Scored a 23, 24. So far having a good time shooting it. May use it to shoot our league shoot this weekend.

Another small update. I've been shooting the super-x regularly, and having a really good time. A few weeks ago, I was able to shoot my first 50 straight, at a registered event. Oh how exciting that was. Then just last weekend I shot a 92 handicap score from the 20 yard line. Wich got me into a shootout, my first. In the shootout I managed a 22, but needed a 25 to win. It was another great experience.

So, now I'm trying to shoot the super x for doubles trap. I'm having some hiccups, and wondering if someone else may have a suggestion what to look for. Most of the time it shoots wonderfully, but occasionally, twice in one round of doubles today it wants to machine gun on the first target. I had it do this to me a couple times before. So, I cleaned the trigger group, and thought I had fixed it. But, obviously not. Is there any suggestions, what else I might do?

Never had that problem. Is it a stage 1 trigger group?

I realize I may have to send it in to have a real gunsmith look into it. Just was hoping it might be something I should look for.

I was told by someone, can't remember if it was Bob Baumgart or Nuline that you should not go below 4 pounds on the trigger pull. Your 3 pound trigger may be the problem, but then again it may just be the angle of it. A good trigger guy should sort it out okay. Nuline did a lot of them for me, they are good.

Yep, Nuline is where I would send the trigger. Maybe, just maybe your trigger is so light that your reaction from recoil you are bumping the trigger and not noticing you do so ??

Thanks Joe, I've wondered about that. I just haven't figured out if its something that I'm doing, pull of the trigger, or something in the trigger assembly. I'll keep updating my findings.

Wanted to post a update. I was able to get the super to a local gunsmith. He remembered the weight of pull, of the trigger. His measurements came up less than 2lbs. He replaced some springs, and got the trigger pull up to 4, 4 1/4 lbs. So far I've shot 5 rounds of doubles, 250 targets, and have not had any more problems. At least with the gun malfunctioning. Now my new problem is getting used to the new trigger pull. I must have gotten used to the light pull. Not shooting it as well as I was. Was hitting 23's 24`s pretty consistently. Now I'm having some difficulty hitting 20`s. I'm hoping with some trigger time it'll get better.

Do keep an eye on the buffer - I acquired an SX1 a few months ago, looked very clean and the buffer was intact and seemed flexible. I shot a couple rounds of sporting clays and stripped it to clean and the buffer was gone.

The old NOS buffers are worthless. After 40 years they are brittle. Get the new after marked buffers Made with better material. A buffer should cost about $20

BTW I recently visited Steve Fisher at his shop in Port Saint Lucie, Fl. and he was not in favor of drilling my barrel extension for a deflection wire so still using a rubber band for singles and an o/u for doubles. Good luck with your new to you gun.

Why would he be opposed to wire installation. The barrel does not move during operation and the holes are less than 1/16 " and don't weaken the steel in anyway. Have wires in my Super X and 1100 for years what problem does he forsee

Thank-you, all who's replied. I'm really pretty happy with my x1. I just hope it doesn't take to long to reprogram myself to the new trigger. It has been kind of disappointing the latest scores. I'm not one to give up easily, think its just more trigger time. My experience with the wire, so far, is it works differently with different makes of shells.
I typically used light 8's gun clubs. My experience there is some times it catches good, sometimes it deflects the shell back into the chamber. Then I usually have to dig it out with a ink pen. If I use Estate light 8's, they generally go past the wire, and at my feet. I get nearly the same results with winchester super targets, as the estate's. When shooting registered targets I've been just using the metal deflector, and they usually land just in front of the speaker, on the ground, next station on the right. I just didn't need any other distractions during a registered shoot. I generally shoot with the same squad mates, and check with fellow squad mates, if the hulls are distracting them. So far none has voiced concern. I'm hoping to fiddle with the wire more, and maybe get it working better. However now, not any light shells available locally. Hopefully we can get some soon. Before the season starts back up.

I'm not sure, who you are asking. Initially I had determined that I was missing mine, with some help here. I had ordered one from Nuline. It looks the same on both sides to me. In my case it could go either way. Since I have installed mine. I've not had any problems, in respect to operation of the gun, ejecting and cycling. Other than my trigger problems. Which I had asked for some input of others. Basically wanted to leave a update what I had done to fix my issue. So, in case someone may have had a similar issue, they might have a solution. Once again, thanks to all who've contributed.

I don’t know why Steve does not favor to do it and I just accepted it as another smith near me also didn’t want to do it.

I still want one as I really like shooting trap with my 30 trap full bbl and can’t seem to find those nice wide vegetable rubber bands anymore at my local super market.
