Ive tried googling but I can’t find any place that stocks Wright sx1 buffers. Brownell has the $179 upgrade kit but I just need the buffer. If wright buffers are no longer in production since Stu passed, is there a decent alternative? Thank you!

Thank you sir!
I saw those but noticed it was made by Winchester so I’m worried it may be old stock. I picked up a used sx1 that had a recently installed buffer. The buffer broke after about 10 shots. I’m guessing the buffer was old stock that had gone brittle
I saw some white delrin buffers on another site and will give them a shot. Delrin is pretty stout. Hope the dimensions are correct

I bought some of the white Delrin buffers for my SX1. They wouldn't snap into place. I gave one to a friend and he had the same problem.

They should be hard to snap into place. I would think that it would be very difficult to do it with your thumb. The way that I do it is by using a 5/8” hardwood dowel about a foot long and a mallet. Place the buffer over its retaining hole making sure that it oriented correctly, then while holding it in place, position the end of the dowel squarely over the buffer and then give it a good whack with the mallet. The buffer will go right into place.

That's my process as well, Casonet. Would not work with the white buffers.

I am a retired carpenter with a lifetime of hammer-swinging in my past. No one can whack it harder than me.

Then if it were mine, I would get my dremel tool and grind down the edges until it will go in; a little at a time. Once it’s in, it’s not going to come out since the bolt hammers it back in place with each shot

Marsh - that last sentence made me chuckle :-)
Did you folks try sanding the buffer to make it a little thinner? I read about a person who had to sand the buffer because it was too thick. I’ll look for the link

You can get the good ones from NuLine Guns. Made of poly urethane and last nearly indefinitely.

My method of installing the buffers is to clamp the receiver vertically in a vise with leather jaws and then spray the hole in the receiver and the new buffer with brake cleaner, align the buffer and drive it home with a 3/4" dowel and a non rebounding hammer. Act quickly so as to seat it in the receiver before the cleaner evaporates. The cleaner actually lubricates the buffer and the receiver so that the buffer pops in smartly. After a few seconds the cleaner evaporates and the buffer is then locked into place. CT
