What is the difference between a Diamond Grade and a Pigeon Grade Japan Model 101 ?Was the Diamond Grade the highest grade offered in the Japan Model 101?

From 1963 through 1973 Winchester offered the basic blued receiver Model 101 over/under in a variety of specifications. For 1974 they added the Pigeon Grade Trap Gun. For 1976, they expanded the Pigeon Grade into Skeet and Field guns and introduced the lower priced Expert. In the later 1970s the Expert became the Model 96. In the last Winchester Repeating Arms Co. catalog, 1981, they added the Model 501 Grand European. Olin then dumped the money losing factory in New Haven off to U.S. Repeating Arms and kept their profitable ammunition business in East Alton and the Japanese produced shotguns under the Winchester Classic Doubles banner.

In the first Winchester Classic Doubles catalog, 1982, they added the Diamond Grade in the competition guns between the Pigeon Grades and the Grand Europeans, and at the top of the line the Presentation Grades. By 1986, the Pigeon Grade competition guns were gone and there were just the Diamond Grades and the Grand Europeans. The Winchester Classic Doubles catalog, 1987, there were just the Diamond Grade competition guns and a 12-gauge trap gun and skeet gun in Presentation Grade. There was also a run of 101 25th Anniversary Presentation Grades. The final 1988 catalog was the same except no anniversary gun.

The only 20ga barrels that would fit on a 12ga frame would have been ones that came from a skeet four-barrel set. 20ga barrels from a 20ga gun wouldn't fit since the 20ga guns had their own frame size.
