Presented as "Engraved Super X Model 1" with a serial # of "M1" !! Appears to me as having a Stage 3 trigger. Starting price too high (but I would like to have the barrel !) :D

I doubt it also.
As jde501 notes it does appear to have a stage III trigger that did not come along for at least 5 years after the start of production. It also appears to have a late barrel without the screw in the rib at the muzzle and most notable the alluded serial number was NOT imbossed with the same number stamps as all other Super X Model 1's.
True value would be less than half of the opening bid.
I wonder if someone will take the bait ?

What do they mean engraved? That roll-stamping/laser engraving was "standard" on all Skeet and Trap Super-X Model 1s,

Minimum opening bid is $1400 and, with a 15% - 18-5% buyers premium, puts it in the "exorbitant price" category. I suspect, at some point, the original serial number was ground off and the crude "M1" was created.

I have one like that with prettier wood and an authentic serial number. Paid $850 for it.

Somebody got ripped big time. I’ve got a Skeet NIB with comparable wood unfired that I would sell for that money

The auction was a bidding frenzy. Annie Oakley's presentation grade Marlin rifle went for $500,000 !!

We have #2 and #4 at the bargain price of $5500 each. No buyers premium or sales tax. Other low SN Super-X guns available too. Let us know which number youd like and I am sure its available. Buy two or more for $5k each.

What a joke. People with more money than brains. Idiots!

The beauty of online firearms is you can only be cheated by yourself.
If you are not sure and positive about any information on/about it, don't bid!
I think that is what drives people crazy. They don't have anyone to blame.

I have a very special, one-of-a-kind Mossberg home defense shotgun for sale for only $1,897.00. Great deal.

Don't know about this auction but when we dealt with horses you had to be careful about two buddies buying each other's horse at inflated prices just to raise the market. Then dump one on some unsuspecting newbie, showing past sales of horses with similar breeding as an indicator.

Maybe horse trading is the only place where that occurred.

I am stunned at this sale price. The "M1" looks cheap, but from the pic it doesn't look like the SN was ground down. If it were it would show a shallow grove and if the whole side of the receiver were ground down the factory engraving would be very shallow or gone. Is it possible it was the first of the line? Normally those go into the factory museum but since the company went under twice it could have been sold off in the past. Very interesting.
