Scored a nice model 12 a few days ago. Manufactured in 1956. Gonna take her out to the trap range this Friday, see what she { or me } does .

I took my 1929 Model 12 to the trap range Monday. It was my first trap day of the season. The old Winchester still works like a champ. I hope yours fits you as well.

Thanks, stogie....I do too !
I shoot weekly informal trap meets with a group of older guys { most are retired and at 71 yrs. old , I'm the kid, lol } for fun. No prizes, although we have friendly wagers and bets among us as to who shoots best....and worst. Used to shoot a BT-99, but sold it a few years ago, now shoot a Franchi Instinct Sporting O/U and will give my new { to me } Winnie model 12 a workout on Friday.

You will find that your Model 12 is extraordinary in the way it points. If the POI is correct it’ll punish a trap target! I won’t shoot trap with anything else when shooting for money. That’s not really true. Sometimes I shoot my Model 21 Trap, but the Model 12 is my go to trap gun.

That’s a nice gun. Hope you enjoy it!

Congratulations, nice specimen. Enjoy. What is the gauge, barrel length and choke? Simmons add-on rib right?

Shoot it and enjoy. That’s what it was made for.

Well, my initial trip to the trap range yesterday with the model 12 was a disaster in my book !!!
First round score was a 10, second round using the same Estate ammo was a 11 . I loaned it to a buddy who loves the model 12, to shoot a round, and he shot an 18 with his reloads. For me , it's a big difference over my regular trap Franchi Instinct Sporting O/U gun. To close out the day, I shot 2 rounds with the Franchi, with scores of 22 and 23. Guess the old girl will take some getting used to, and for sure a lot more rounds down the tube .

I’ve found you have to pretty much cover the bird up with any field gun.

A comb riser is useful for a field gun shooting trap.

The comb raising kit from Beartooth will help. Field Model 12's tend to shoot pretty flat, not the ideal setup for a rising bird.
