Looks like it just wasn’t closed all the way. I hated the field 828 as it was too light and recoil was ridiculous. I must say this one looks and seems like it should be better but at $5000 Canadian dollars plus tax, it’s too much money to take a chance on it
$$1600 more than a 725!

I'm pretty convinced this is just an attempt to change the economics of o/u guns so Benelli can get in and realize a much higher profit. This gun just has to be way cheaper to make vs a traditional o/u. The stock and receiver require far less precision work to fit together. heck the stocks are probably leftover Montefeltro or Ethos units. I'm thinking way less machining work and time on these things.

Shameful they would introduce this at such a high price point. the design screams 'cheap!'.

And they will. It’s a Benelli!

Not this fan. I've got a safe full of Benellis but that atrocity will never share space with them.

you know I would almost be willing to try a sporting model out at $3500 Canadian dollars which is about $2600 USD. The stupidity is that the regular field gun is $4000 + Tax here (approx $3000USD).

Sadly, you are correct.

I bought mine as a wet weather gun - it shares safe space with a custom built Perazzi. The 828U Sport is actually a seriously good piece of kit.....

And a footnote. The 828U Sport is a good gun with some weaknesses that seem unfixable.

1) Failure to strike the primer - just a click and that's it.
2) Failure to eject spent cases

The importer here in UK (GMK) seems unable to fix. Avoid the 828U Sport - it is, sadly, a lemon.

Must be the Benelli click in an O/U.

Benelli should just stick to autos. I would never spend that much money on a Benelli O/U even if they were flawless when I can get a Browning that's proven and less money.

I don't understand. It is first a seriously good "kit". Now it is also has a couple of un-fixable issues which make it a lemon. Color me confused. :?:

It's a good gun, just doesn't always fire the shell and, if it does, doesn't always eject the empty. Other than that...
