I'm asking about these two guns because they both come in left hand versions. I know stock materials have different options between these two models, but I'm really wondering about the rib mainly. I already have an M2 lefty but am considering a montefeltro LH. For those that have shot a SBE 1, is that rib closer to an M2 or a monte? Just asking because a buddy has a SBE1 LH and I shoot that gun really well!

Mostly the rib and the price.

Regardless of brand, it is self-explanatory, just look at the gun and the difference is obvious. Above is a Retay Masai Mara. It has a two-piece receiver, the barrel and the top of the receiver are integral. The Weatherby Element has a one piece receiver, as do these Girsan MC312's:

Point was the Benelli M2’s are one piece receivers, same as the Benelli Montefeltro’s. The Benelli SBE’s/Supersport’s are two piece.
We’re talking Benellis here.......

I'll stand corrected for my confusing comment. As far as I'm concerned, there isn't any great difference between the Montefeltro, Ultra Light, or the M2. For whatever reason, the Montefeltro has been positioned as the 'budget Benelli', the M2 with a higher price tag, and the UL's with higher price tags yet. Same action, same bolt, etc., as far as I know. Why you have the Montefeltro 'starting at $1129" and then have things like the M2 "Performance Shop" Waterfowler @ $2799 (a 20 gauge) https://www.benelliusa.com/performance- ... -waterfowl is baffling to me. Perhaps I'm just easily baffled?

No....they do seem to ratchet up the MSRP pretty quickly for a few ‘extras’.

Why don't they make the Montefeltro with a ComforTech stock? Is it the 'flat' rib?

It’s been around for years and at least in Europe marketed as the Comfort (never with the Montefeltro name). https://www.benelli.it/en/products/semi ... ro/comfort

Quote: The Comfort shotgun is the result of the same Benelli research that led to the development of the patented Comfortech System. This system has successfully met the needs of shooters seeking “less weight and less recoil”. Muzzle climb is 32% less than on our competitor’s models, meaning 34% faster re-aiming and 47% less peak recoil at the shooter’s shoulder without any increase in the gun’s overall weight. Does anyone here believe that?

Of course, just like the V3 has less recoil, and cycles faster......

It’s been around for years and at least in Europe marketed as the Comfort (never with the Montefeltro name). https://www.benelli.it/en/products/semi ... ro/comfortI wrote to Benelli the same day that you (Randy) mentioned the above. They never got back to me. I suppose they are busy with more important issues (moon shots?) The 'Comfort' model is very interesting. I like the flat rib - that's what prompted my initial question. Airfare is cheap these days. I could book a flight to London, pick up a Comfort model, and fly home. I'm sure there wouldn't be much hassle - paperwork etc... Another, possible, option would be to see if the Comfort is sold in Canada. I'm less than 100 miles from the border. If it is (sold in Canada) the roadblocks would be easier to deal with. If nothing else I have plenty of good friends north of the border. They could buy it and then sell it to me. I'm sure returning it to the US would present some issues. But I've bought boats in Canada and gone thru their xfer process. Their xfer was fast and easy. It was the Minnesota registration nazis that was a PITA. I like the Comforteck stock. I'm not young and have some medical issues and the stock is easier on my old body. I have a Vinci - but I don't like the raised rib. The Vinci shoots very high (r rib? and Benelli punted on any fix. So it has sat in my safe for a few years and my heirs will find it there stiff from old oil. I want to see if a flat rib Benelli will lower my POI.

It will if you sight flat down the rib. Ramped rib Benellis shoot high by design. Floating the bird works great in real life hunting situations.
