So a couple of weeks ago I ordered a 20ga m2 with the black stock. Picked it up from my FFL yesterday. When I got it home I unwrapped it and noticed that the clear plastic that the stock/action was wrapped in was sticking to the gun pretty significantly. Once it was off I noticed that both front and butt stock were sticky and actually a little gummy. I could scratch it with my fingernail but it was not like tape residue. It went deeper into the plastic. Reminded me of hard candy that had become a little gummy on the surface....if you have ever seen that. I tried wiping it off with balistol but it wouldn’t fix it. I will call Benelli on Monday but has anyone seen this before? Looks like a bad batch of plastic.

Looks like this one is headed back to the mothership for issues other than a sticky stock. ........Shot it today from a padded rest (front and rear) at 30 yards with the I/C choke looking down the rib with the mid-bead partly obscuring the front (so it is not a shim issue). Center of the pattern was about 10 inches above POA. This was not just one shot, but 3 shots on the same target to minimize error potential. Also shot the pattern board. Pretty close to the same result. Not very happy. My old M1 and my Monte shoot POA.....not this one! Shells were Win AA #8.

I don’t mind a gun that shoots about 60/40 but 10 inches high is ridiculous. I hunt quail and woodcock. Frequently, woodcock will dive on you so a real high shooting gun is not good.

Sounds frustrating. I hope they make it right for you.
Good luck.

If I remember correctly I think the 20gs M2s had a dura touch type coating on the stock/forearm.

Correct, gunner76. They started putting the Duratouch on the M2 stocks.

My wife is left-eye dominant, and she handled an M2 20 gauge LH at the store front. Everything was going to work, but she wanted a shorter barrel. No problem. They had the next length shorter in the back.

I looked over that shotgun's medal, scanned everything else, and it checked out OK. I didn't realize until I got it home that it had the DuraTouch stock finish on it. I hate that finish, but it will stay that way now. Coatings and finishes just never last, but hopefully this proves me wrong.

Well I found out what was up with the sticky stock. When I called Benelli to tell them, they asked for the serial number. When I gave it to them, they asked if it was new. I said that I had just bought it. It was factory wrapped. Sure enough it was a brand new 2007 model M2 with the dura touch. They are going to take care of it.

Yep that is by design and a great reason to go camo.

I've got 2 M2 20 gauges, both black. The coating on my oldest one is yellow. Wish it was not on there at all

I put a HiViz sight on both and they shoot to POA. Hardly ever shoot target loads though, mainly steel duck loads
